Are you looking for a youngster who loves everyone and everything? And is cuter than a

kitten video? If so, read on, my friends. Meet Hendrick!

This sweet caramel dude is ~ 9 months old and came from a rural area in NC. He came up to NY in late September in his freedom ride and is more than ready for his life to really start now! We think Hendrick is something of a feist/hound mix. As champion ofthe puppy world (in his mind), he weighs in at a lanky 27lbs and while he will fill out a bit, he’s at his full -grown frame. So, he is a fantastic and sought-after true “medium!”. Small enough to lift and hold but plenty of enthusiasm for adventurous and athletic fun.

Hendrick is currently living with a medium adult female dog and adult female cat (who has a terrible attitude). While he would like to play, alas, neither of them do. But, he has a next-door neighbor his age (9 month old large breed female) who he LOVES to wrestle with. This is a guy who will probably adjust to the play style of his. He is very bright and is working on leash walking training currently. As any pup his age, he has his own fun antics and mischief, but it’s pretty minor as far as youngsters go! And again, because he is so smart, he is easily deterred with a quick command.

Now, while it’s the inside that matters, Madonna wasn’t wrong: we also live in a material world. So, let’s talk about the outside. Hendrick has GORGEOUS eyeliner and black lip liner. He has soulful latte eyes, tiny floppy ears, a long, dignified nose, and a lithe build. He is still attempting to gather all those legs in a functional way (think fawn, here) which makes him pretty hilarious to watch as he romps and pounces. He has interestingly big front feet, and size-appropriate back feet. Meh, diverse proportions make us more beautiful, right? Hendrick is short haired, fawn colored, and sheds minimally. While he might have hound in his, he’s a pretty quiet dude, occasionally giving a whine to indicate wanting to play or go outside. Thus far, no barking. Health wise, Hendrick is in the green! He is neutered, up to date in shots, treated with flea-tick, HW negative, and eats like a champ. He is also potty trained and sleeps through the night outside of a crate. During times when humans leave, he is crated and does well.

And Hendrick’s social life is booming. He takes trips to HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, Petsmart, and every establishment he’s welcomed into. He especially loves a brewery, because people there are VERY attentive to his leans and long looks of love. Hendrick is not a jumper, nor is he a huge licker. He just likes to go stand next to folks, wag, make eye contact, and lean in for hugs and pets.

He is a little man for all seasons and can go anywhere with you. He’s polite, quiet, respectful, yet silly and quite humorous. So what household would work for Hendrick? Well, just about any! He really loves children and is good with any he’s been around – very gentle and non-pushy. So, he would love some kids, another playful dog, and people/a person who wants a dog to bring everywhere. He adores car rides, his plush toys, doing a bit of fetch (although, the mechanics are tricky…I bring it..back?). Truly, he just wants to roll around with someone who will scratch his belly, kiss his face, spoon him for naps, and be a strong leaning post.
