Wildlife and Domestic Rescue & Rehabilitation
Stay Wild Rescue is a small non-profit rescue in Trumansburg, NY. We rescue and rehabilitate orphaned or injured wildlife and domestic animals, mostly dogs and cats. Kittens, cats, puppies and dogs are sterilized and vaccinated and available for adoption. We also have a sanctuary for unadoptable and special needs animals.

How can you help wildlife where you live?
Preventative: Be responsible in your environment: when hunting, check for juveniles and leave young animals to mature.
Drive carefully and be mindful of migratory seasons, breeding seasons and small mammals preparing their winter cache.
When doing construction, logging and excavating, check the area for burrows, nests and other signs of wildlife habitation.
If you see wildlife in their natural environment, enjoy the view. Do not interfere.
Intervention: If you see a wildlife juvenile that either looks too young to be on his/her own, is approaching you or looks injured then contain the animal safely and call a rehabilitator. Do not feed the animal or try to treat the injuries. Here’s a list of all DEC-certified rehabilitators in New York State and the type of wildlife they care for.
